Quarantine-Friendly Tricks for those with Kids

As this pandemic spreads, most of us are spending a bit more time at home. For those with kids, how do you keep them entertained and avoid cabin fever?! Here are a few quarantine-friendly tricks to keep up your sleeve:

1) Google Arts and Culture has paired with 2,500 different museums and heritage sites to offer virtual tours. There are countless cultural experiences for you all to enjoy from the comfort of your couch. Check them out here: https://artsandculture.google.com/project/streetviews

2) Bake together! Cookies, cake, brownies… anything. Is there a new recipe that you’ve all been wanting to try together? Now’s the time. And if you’re short an ingredient, I’m sure a friendly neighbor would be willing to assist

3) Have an indoor picnic. Grab a sheet, whatever food you have and enjoy a living room picnic complete with great company.

4) Theres a beluga whale webcam set up at the Georgia Aquarium; you can check in and see what they’re up to at any time! View them here: https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/webcam/beluga-whale-webcam/

5) Train the dog. No seriously. If you’ve been holding off due to lack of time, now’s the perfect time to teach basic commands or more complex tricks. An hour a day will get you results in no time (just remember that consistency is key!).

6) The Cincinnati Zoo will be live-streaming animals on their Facebook page every day at 3PM. Tune in live here: https://www.facebook.com/cincinnatizoo/

7) Make a vision board. Print out pictures from the internet or cut them out from magazines. Fill the board with images and words representing what you’d like your year to look like. Make sure to hang it on the fridge so you and everyone in the family can see it often.

8) Listen to an astronaut read. NASA astronauts read stories to kids while they float around in space! Check it out here: https://storytimefromspace.com

9) Make slime! Here’s a great tutorial for beginners: https://www.youtube.com/watch…

10) Join a free virtual arts and crafts lesson every day at 1PM. Check them out to find out what the lesson will be and what supplies you’ll need: https://www.facebook.com/McHarperManor/
