In Steamboat, it’s easy to see the fun, adventurous lifestyle that invites many to live here. In our mountain town oasis, it’s not always easy to see signs of struggle. Holidays are perfect times to practice gratitude for what you have and to give to those who have less.
LiftUp of Routt County accepts financial donations, food, and clothing. Financial and Thrift Store donations help fund emergency assistance and food to low-income residents. For Thrift Store donations, follow their rule of thumb: if you wouldn’t buy it, they probably can’t sell it. In October, the CGR Charitable Foundation collected over 500 high-quality coats from our giving community. The coats were donated to LiftUp to distribute to those in need; thanks to all that helped!
Routt County United Way’s Holiday Gift Exchange Market helps struggling individuals and families by bringing the community together in sharing. Everyone in the program donates time, clothing, food cards, toys, or money. Aside from being a sponsor, CGR will be a drop off location for this year’s gift exchange; please drop off any items to 509 Lincoln Ave.
The Community Christmas Dinner, sponsored by the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors, is December 25th at the Community Center. With 28 years of success, this event is a local favorite and epitomizes what Steamboat’s about. The Board of Realtors, restaurants, and stores donate food and time. Youth, individuals, and families participate in the meal and genuine community connection.
