Whether you want to participate in the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day or you want to showcase your musical skills at an open mic night — there are plenty of ways to stay engaged with the local community.

First Friday Artwalk

Where? 1001 13th Street

This monthly self-guided tour of Steamboat’s local art galleries, museums, and alternative venues is a classic way to kick off the new month. Participating businesses will remain open on the first Friday of every month for the art walk. Many will offer rotating exhibits, so you’ll have something new to appreciate each Friday. The event is free to the public and is officially hosted from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Refreshments are served as well, so gather your closest friends and family and enjoy an evening stroll around Steamboat Springs. Participating venues and businesses include the Jace Romick Gallery, Ohana, Pine Moon Fine Art Gallery, Riverwalk Collective, Roots & Roost, Co., and more! Enjoy work from local, regional, and national artists across a variety of mediums, or swing by the Tread of Pioneers Museum to learn about the history of this iconic Colorado mountain town.

When? November 5th

Don’t miss out on this unique pairing of local craft beer and whiskey with a dose of Routt County and Western history. Join the Tread of Pioneers Museum in Steamboat on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM at the Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill. There will be free craft beer provided by Storm Peak Brewing and a whiskey tasting by Mythology Distillery. Attendees should be 21 and over. This month’s happy hour is “Riots, Reefer & Rock N’ Roll” with Megan Friedel, who is an Assistant Professor and Lead Archivist for the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries’ Rare & Distinctive Collections. Next month’s happy hour will be hosted on December 3rd and will cover “The Scandals of Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School & Camp” with historian and author, Dagny McKinley.

$20 Vaccination Saturday

Where? 760 Critter Court
When? November 9th

The Routt County Humane Society hosts a Wellness Clinic each month on the second Saturday. This clinic is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the RCHS shelter in Steamboat. Prices are set at $20 for vaccinations and $25 for microchips. No appointment is needed, so simply arrive with your pet on a leash and/or in a carrier. Pets will be cared for on a first come, first serve basis so arrive early if you want to cut down on wait time. If you won’t be able to make November’s date, mark your calendar for December 14th! These vaccination clinics are in collaboration with the Colorado Pet Overpopulation Fund, which has worked to achieve remarkable milestones and allocate nearly $8 million to local organizations.

Ski & Snowboard Fit

When? Through November 22nd

With summer in the rearview mirror, the winter season is almost upon us. If you’re gearing up for ski season, make sure you’re in the best shape possible to tackle the mountain this winter. This group personal training class is presented by Old Town Hot Springs and features instructors who will work with participants to ensure they can meet their wintertime athletic goals. These classes include in-depth coaching and guidance based on your personal needs and goals. This program is being offered 4 times this year, with a Tuesday and Thursday session at 6:00 AM with Mike Benedict (October 1st through November 21st), another Tuesday and Thursday session at 12:00 PM with Marisa Howard (October 1st through November 21st), and a Wednesday and Friday session at 12:00 PM with Joanne Orce (October 2nd through November 22nd). There is a newly added Wednesday and Friday session at 6:00 AM with Mike Benedict as spots are selling out quickly! The price for 16 sessions is $139 for members and $159 for guests.

Steamboat Opening Day 2024

When? November 23rd

This all-day event is one of Steamboat’s most anticipated November events. Opening Day kicks off the 2024/2025 season with a bang. All passes, including Ikon, Ikon Base, and Steamboat-specific passes are valid on November 23rd. Festivities kick off bright and early at 7:30 AM and the resort opens an hour later. The day’s events and activities include complimentary Powder Day donuts, Honey Stinger waffles, and Korbel mimosas while supplies last. There will also be a free opening day t-shirt for the first 100 skiers and riders in line. There will be a countdown to the official start of the season, as well as the annual ringing of the Champagne Powder Snow Bell to get the crowd hyped! Whether you plan on hitting the slopes this Opening Day or you simply want to enjoy the festivities with the community, come on out to the Steamboat Ski Resort and enjoy this classic Steamboat event!

Tread of Pioneers Museum’s 30th Annual Festival of Trees

Don’t miss out on this three-decade celebration of Steamboat’s Festival of Trees at the Tread of Pioneers Museum. This family-focused tradition transforms the museum into a sparkly forest of 26 holiday trees, each one uniquely decorated by a creative local organization, business, or individual. The festival has something for everyone, allowing families a unique backdrop to take their holiday photos or get their holiday shopping done at the museum store where you’ll find locally-made products, books, and toys. There will also be a Pioneer Christmas Storytime for kids on Saturday, November 16th at 11:00 AM. The festival is free to all Routt County residents and regular admission prices will be charged to out-of-town visitors. The festival is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There will be a closure on Thanksgiving Day.

Steamboat Springs Turkey Trot

Where? 45 Maple Street
When? November 28th

The Annual Steamboat Springs Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Registration is priced at $27.50, which includes a $2.50 fee. The 5K is great for the whole family and is a tradition for many area locals before they dig into their Thanksgiving feast. Whether you run or walk, it doesn’t matter! The trot benefits the Steamboat Springs High School Track and Field and Cross Country programs. The course travels to the beautiful Strawberry Park and back to the high school. Dress in your favorite Thanksgiving Day costume or put on a warm sweater because the weather will likely be chilly! Attendees can also donate non-perishable food donations to the Lift Up Food Bank. A bin will be positioned near the finish line. The first 350 youth (ages 11-17) and adults (18+) combined who have paid and registered online will receive a Steamboat Springs logo buff/tubie.

Live Music Saturdays

Check out live local musicians during this live music series at The Corner Slice, which features both solo and duo performances from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. These concerts are free to all ages and pizza and drinks are available for purchase. The Corner Slice is an energetic restaurant serving up true New York-style pizza in Steamboat Springs. The pizzeria has collaborated with Brooklyn natives and added unique personal touches to the pizza, making the pies one-of-a-kind and incredibly delicious. Whether you swing by for a slice or a whole pizza, you’ll enjoy your experience and your family will thank you if you bring home extra! On Tuesdays, The Corner Slice also hosts an Open Mic Night in Steamboat. Watch as local musicians enjoy the laid-back atmosphere as they serenade guests and showcase their talents. You can get up on the stage too! The event is first come first served for musicians of any style.

Singo! Music Bingo

Looking for a fun activity this November? Check out Singo! Music Bingo nights at The Press. Bingo kicks off at 7:00 PM on Wednesdays and is a great way to connect with the community, meet new faces, and partake in a midweek pick-me-up. Sip on your favorite drinks, groove to classic tunes, and enjoy the good vibes that abound at this hilarious, fun-loving event. You may even be able to walk away with some cool prizes! The Press is located in the historic Pilot Building downtown and was the location of Northwest Colorado’s very first newspaper from 1909 to 1999. Now, the venue is an intimate listening room with a dance floor that hosts a wide array of experiences. The venue is 21 and up and you’re welcome to bring food in, with nearby restaurants including Brooklyn’s Pizzeria and Laura’s Meatbar.

Sunday Stories

When? Recurring Sundays

If you’re looking for something to do with the little ones this November, mark your calendars for Sundays at 10:30 AM! Head over to the Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat for Sunday Stories, which are hosted in the children’s storytime room. Children between the ages of 1 and 5 are invited to listen to stories and sing along to fun songs! Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate while the group learns new rhymes to encourage a lifelong love of books and reading. This program is completely free and no registration is required. Space can be limited so arrive early to ensure you snag a good spot! Other recurring weekly events for little ones at the library include Crafty Tales on Mondays, Music and Movement on Tuesdays, Adventures and Obstacles on Wednesdays, and Babytime on Thursdays.
