COVID-19 has no boundaries. It doesn’t matter if someone lives in a glorious mountain town, or a bustling city; no one is immune. So far, there has been only one COVID-19 case requiring hospitalization and one death of a 100 year old resident of Casey’s Pond nursing home. Nonetheless, UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center is always working to prepare for any eventuality.
The 106 year old UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center offers big city facilities with small town kindness. “It is a true community hospital. Regardless of if you’re a local family delivering your first child, a visitor needing unexpected care during a trip or a second homeowner looking for more advanced services while enjoying the Yampa Valley, we have the capabilities, both locally and throughout the UCHealth family, to deliver incredible care,” says Soniya Fidler, President of Yampa Valley Medical Center.
Over 75 physicians are on the active medical staff and with over 560 employees. A few years ago, the 39- bed community hospital joined UCHealth, which includes 12 full service hospitals and more than 150 clinic locations across three states. “COVID-19 is an ever evolving situation and something we’ve never specifically dealt with,” says Lindsay Reznicek, the Communications Specialist for YVMC. “However, the staff and providers at YVMC are well prepared to continue caring for urgent patients in addition to any potential influx of patients with COVID-19.” For such a small community, the hospital services are akin to a big city facility.
Those with questions about symptoms are encouraged to contact YVMC’s Ask-a-Nurse Line at 970-871-7878. Virtual Urgent Care is a great option for those who would like to be seen and treated by a UCHealth provider without leaving the comfort of home.
