This Routt County golf club has been a staple of the local golf community dating back to 1965. The course is best defined by its lush rough, the meandering creek, small and confounding greens, and beautiful groves of mature cottonwood trees that stand tall ready to block any wayward shots. The course borders the Yampa River and you can snag views of the valley and of the ski mountain while you work on your swing. The club is open to the public and hosts a bustling social schedule, so be sure to stay up to date on events and happenings.
Golfers enjoy walking this stunning course, with views from all vantage points. Typically, a 9-hole round at Steamboat Golf Club can be completed within 120 minutes. There is a practice green on site, as well as food and beverage options that are best enjoyed on the creekside deck with good friends. The maximum group reservation for a round is 8 golfers (2 tee times). Larger groups may be organized upon a discussion with the head golf professional.
The Steamboat Golf Club is proud to be family-oriented. This is an affordable option in the area for those looking to participate in an enjoyable round of golf with their loved ones. Tee times are booked 9 holes at a time, with replay rates available after completion (depending on availability). Golfers are asked to show up at least 15 minutes before their scheduled tee time and carts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
Daily green fees at Steamboat Golf Club range from $38 to $45 for Routt County residents and non-residents (walking 9-hole rate) and $18 for juniors under 18 years old. The replay rate is $20. Electric golf carts, push carts and club rentals are available onsite. Save money by purchasing a punch card for 10 rounds. You can snag the early rate by purchasing within 2 weeks after opening day!

Steamboat’s Haymaker Golf Course is located in the luscious Yampa Valley region. The course is a championship golf course, featuring snow-capped views of Mount Werner from various vantage points, as well as the Flat Top Mountain Range. This challenging links-style course features native grasslands and wetlands, as well as wide-open fairways. This Keith Foster design is home to many species of wildlife, including elk, eagles, and blue herons.
The summer season at Haymaker Golf Course runs from the end of May through mid-September, allowing golfers to soak in the beautiful Colorado weather while they work on their swing. The course offers senior and junior rates, as well as student discounts so make sure to inquire about pricing if you qualify for these categories.
Haymaker Golf Course is also known for their “The Fringe” golf simulator, which utilizes state-of-the-art technology to deliver a shockingly realistic and fun user experience. With over 270 courses available, you’ll never get bored! The simulator is open during the winter season and typically priced at $75 per hour, which includes up to 5 players. Call ahead to reserve your simulator time and feel free to bring your own food and nonalcoholic drinks.

Rollingstone Ranch Golf Course

The Rollingstone Ranch Golf Course is nestled along the flanks of Mount Werner and features beautiful views of the Flat Top Mountains, as well as tumbling streams and dramatic backdrops to your tee shots. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II and first opened for 18-hole play in 1974. The course is considered championship caliber and players can enjoy panoramic views and manicured bluegrass/ryegrass fairways and roughs when they play at Rollingstone. The scenic Fish Creek weaves in and out and can be heard roaring in the early season. You may even catch a glimpse of kayakers as they make their way down the rapids!
Wildlife sightings at the course have included moose, elk, eagles, and maybe even a bear! Regardless of skill level, the course has playing characteristics that can be enjoyed by golfers of all ages and experience classifications. After your game, swing by Fish Creek Grille for a bite to eat! The menu features traditional American cuisine and diners can soak in the breathtaking views of the Yampa Valley from the covered patio.
The course also hosts a ladies’ league, which plays at Rollingstone Ranch from June through September. This is a great way to meet new people and enjoy an outdoor activity in beautiful Steamboat Springs! Catamount Ranch & Club is unlike other Steamboat Springs area courses. This private course and club features a world-class par 72 Tom Weiskopf championship design, as well as a 530-acre private lake, pristine hay meadows, and that iconic mountain wilderness that Steamboat is known for. Catamount is dedicated to being a steward of the natural beauty all around the property, which is why they’ve placed 4,000 acres into the Yampa Valley Land Trust through a series of conservation easements to preserve the landscape for generations to come.
Membership to Catamount Ranch & Club has a multitude of amenities and benefits for residents and families. Spend your mornings fly-fishing on the Yampa River or sail Lake Catamount and enjoy the cool breeze on your face. The Lake House has a fitness center, tennis courts, swimming, spa pools, and a full-service restaurant for members and their guests. During the winter months, you can explore trails via snowshoeing or Nordic skiing. Membership includes you, your spouse or significant other who lives with you, and children under the age of 24.
Both the premier membership and junior premier golf membership provide privileges to the golf course. Located approximately an hour from Steamboat Springs, the Yampa Valley Golf Course is well worth the drive if you’re looking to play the oldest and most affordable 18-hole facility in the Yampa Valley. The course first opened in 1968 and is spread across 240+ acres of wetlands, native grasses, cottonwoods, and sage. Everyone is welcome at the Yampa Valley Golf Course and you won’t bust your budget taking the family out for a round of golf.
The course is very playable for golfers across a range of skill levels. Outing formats include scrambles, tee times, and modified shotgun starts, which can accommodate a range of events and banquet needs. The golf course hosts various leagues, including male and female groupings and tournaments throughout the season.
New to golf? No problem! Check out the golf lessons and instruction on the course over the summer months. There is a limited schedule available, with lesson slots available on select dates by Chuck Cobb, a PGA professional. Lessons can be divided into individuals, couples, small groups, and even a Girls on the Greens program!
Public golf rates at the Yampa Valley Golf Course are priced at $22 to $38 (9-hole & 18-hole) for residents of Moffat, Hayden, and Baggs County. Non-residents are priced at $30 to $50. Twilight rates kick off at 2:00 PM on select dates, allowing you to save more! Juniors receive discounted rates as well. The course has cart and club rental options, as well as a bag storage fee.
