A marked increase in direct flights from Steamboat Springs to U.S. hubs and global commerce centers is causing a surge in location neutral workers and businesses relocating to Routt County.
“Combine ease of access with our leading broadband infrastructure, awarded-winning K-12 schools and a highly-educated workforce and you can see what is behind the growth,” adds John Bristol, development director for the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
Estimates from the US Census Bureau in 2017 puts the population of Steamboat Springs at 12,965 and the overall median age at 37.4 years. It is the 41st largest city in Colorado with a population density of 1,277.19 people per square mile and a household density of 964.22 people per square mile.
Melissa Gibson, branch manager and vice president of Land Title Guarantee Company, notes a steady increase in local buyers over recent years, which she interprets as a rise in homeowner versus investment market sales.
Compared to many ski resorts in the West, Steamboat still offers property buyers value for their money and an inherent community spirit.
